KAWE conducted a courtesy visit and epilepsy-focused activities in Taita Taveta County on May 2025, marking the 19th county engagement aimed at strengthening partnerships with county health officials and addressing gaps in epilepsy care.
The initiative included training primary healthcare workers and Community Health Promoters, community stigma bench dialogues in Voi and Wundanyi, and discussions on improving epilepsy management, reducing stigma, and strengthening referral pathways. Key issues highlighted were limited access to epilepsy services, anti-seizure medicine stock-outs, and low community awareness, while outcomes included improved health worker capacity, empowered community advocates, and strong media coverage that amplified epilepsy awareness at both county and national levels.
